Frizz limitation

Jolly Mommy / 30th March, 2020 / Hair

I have always wanted to be one of those girls that wake up with perfect hair. However I am not. My hair is a mixture of jagged curls, frizz and is very thick. It's a constant battle. My hair is curly but not in a cute corkscrew type of way. It's more of a triangle curl if that is even possible. I have heard great things about the "curly girl method" which one day I will commit too and try as the results look amazing.

Here is a before picture. Hair was naturally air dried.

I usually wear my hair in 2 ways when I am not at work. I either straighten it with straighteners or curl it with straighteners. When I'm at work it's usually in a messy bun or pony tail....those pesky nits love my long hair so its a case of damage limitation. I am a sucker for hair products. I am easily suckered in by their false promises. The amount of hair products that I have purchased that have promised me smooth, frizz free and gorgeous hair over the years does not even bare thinking about. I buy these products and when I am disappointed I put them in the family shampoo and conditioner dispenser in the bathroom...hey at least they get used and the kids don't complain.

After shampooing and conditioning my hair I try to avoid blow drying it before hand and prefer to let it air dry just to reduce the amount of heat I use on it as it can go really dry and brittle. On towel dried hair I like to use "L'anza trauma treatment". I have recently started having my base level 3/4 hair lifted to a balayage which has left it dry so I am finding this stuff a god send at the moment. It has helped to replace some of the protein in my hair and helps with breakage. You only need a small amount. I also use L'Oreal dream lengths "no haircut cream". I love the dream lengths range as its so affordable and they smell amazing. Their shampoo and conditioner is often mine and my daughters go too product. This is followed by a little heat protective spray before using the straighteners. I am using A.S.P heat protective spray as I get it from college at cost price. Believe it or not I never used heat protective spray before studying hairdressing (shock horror). I finish with a small amount of Matrix hair serum. A tiny amount of this product goes a very long way. I have had that bottle for over 4 years.

I love GHD straighteners. I have the wide plate ones and the narrow ones. Mine are years old so although expensive they are a really cheap "cost per use" item as they last forever. So in the long run good investment. I have curled my hair using the narrow GHD straighteners as pictured. I always smooth the root first as this is where my hair tends to frizz. I then do a mixture of "over" curls near the face and then the majority of the rest of the hair using the "under" curl method. This just refers to the direction that I turn the straighteners. I have a lot of hair so this usually take about 40 minutes. It's a long process but the curls achieved look really fab and hold well even without hairspray. Hairspray can be used if needed but as I am at home all day today and for the forcible future I didn't bother. Let me know in the comments section what you think. Let me know what hair products you couldn't live without as I said I am a sucker for buying hair products and just maybe that dream product "is" out there x

Here is the after hair...
